Analytics and Tracking

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly web analytics service, to understand visitor trends and improve our application. Plausible:

• Does not use cookies - No cookie consent banner is required
• Does not collect personal data - No email addresses, IP addresses, or unique user identifiers
• Does not track across websites - Only measures activity on our site
• Collects aggregated data only - Page views, referrers, and general location (country level)
• Is fully GDPR compliant - All data is anonymized and aggregated

Marketing parameters (such as UTM tags from advertising campaigns) are captured temporarily to measure campaign effectiveness, but are immediately removed from your browser's address bar and stored only for the duration of your session without any personal identification.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored locally in your browser and on your device. We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure.

Error Reporting During Alpha and Beta

During the alpha and beta stages, runtime error reporting is mandatory so we can identify and fix stability issues quickly.

• Error reports may include technical diagnostics such as error messages, stack traces, browser and device metadata, app version/build hash, URL, and editor state snapshots related to the failure.
• If you are signed in, reports may be linked to your account identifier to help us understand affected users and prioritize fixes.
• Error reporting for alpha and beta builds cannot be turned off.

AI Assistant and Your Font Data

The Counterpunch Font Editor includes an AI assistant that helps you work with your fonts. We've designed this feature with privacy as the top priority:

• Your font data never leaves your computer - Unlike typical AI assistants that send your files to cloud servers for processing, our AI assistant generates Python scripts locally that run entirely on your device.
• No font content is sent to AI services - When you use the AI assistant, only your natural language request is sent to the AI service (Anthropic Claude). Your actual font files, glyphs, metrics, and design work remain completely private on your computer.
• The AI learns the API, not your data - The AI has been trained to understand font editing APIs and generate scripts. It creates algorithms (recipes) without ever seeing your specific font data (ingredients).
• You have complete control - Every script generated by the AI is shown to you for review before execution. The AI never automatically modifies your fonts or executes code without your explicit permission.
• Scripts are transparent - You can read, modify, save, or discard any generated script. There are no "black box" operations.

This approach ensures that proprietary fonts, fonts under NDA, and personal projects remain completely private while still giving you the benefits of AI assistance.

Third-Party Services

This application uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic Claude - AI service used for the font editor's AI assistant feature. Only your natural language requests are sent to Anthropic; your font data remains on your device. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Plausible Analytics - Privacy-friendly web analytics (cookie-free, GDPR compliant). Data is processed in the EU.
• Resend - Email delivery service for sending magic link authentication emails. We only share your email address with Resend for the purpose of delivering login emails.

We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use one essential cookie for authentication purposes only:

• Session cookie - Keeps you logged in across our services (counterpunch.space and editor.counterpunch.space). This cookie expires after 30 days and contains only your encrypted session identifier.

We do not use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. Additional data stored in your browser includes:

• Theme preference - Remembers your light/dark mode choice
• Application data - Your font projects and editor settings

This local storage is strictly necessary for the application to function and does not require consent under GDPR.
